I’m a researcher and writer who is passionate about good food and its implications for inspired living.
I am currently a postgraduate at Adelaide University where I draw upon history, anthropology and ethnobotany to better understand the complex relationships between humans and plants in both traditional and contemporary cultures. My research area is the exotic superfoods that have recently become fashionable in the Western health products market but have long been crucial foods and medicines to indigenous groups. I believe that a holistic understanding of the roles of these edible medicinal plants in their native cultures is crucial to achieving maximum health benefits, to respecting the people who have long cultivated these plants, and to preserving important biological resources for the future.
I aim to share a practical and respectful approach to using edible medicinal plants through my workshops, talks and writing. I have presented workshops on superfoods and raw chocolate at the Entheogenesis Australis Conference and Rainbow Serpent Festival. I served as the food editor for Living Raw Magazine and have written articles for various food and health publications.
