Keeping the Ole Gut Healthy
It’s kind of yucky to think about our insides. But they’re there, laboring away unglamorously in all their slimy glory. It’s time to give the gut some credit, and make sure we’re feeding it the healthy bacteria that it needs to keep that positive energy flowing from one end to the other.
That’s where living foods come in. Cultured and fermented foods and drinks are super important for gut health. Here are a few options – make sure you have at least one every day!
- Miso – use as a spread, add to salad dressings or sauces, or make miso soup
- Sauerkraut – super easy and cheap to make, lasts for ages and tastes yummy
- Cultured Vegetables – like sauerkraut, but the flavor possibilities are endless
- Kombucha – a drink made from cultured tea and sugar, very fizzy and ever so slightly sweet. I looooove this stuff but haven’t tried brewing it myself yet – leave me tips in comments!
- Yoghurt – Sheep and goat’s milk are easier to digest, and have awesome creamy tangy flavors
- Probiotic Supplement – a lovely little capsule to get that gut balanced, easy as one two three
